About your Chief Energy Officer, Maribeth MacKenzie
I’ve been in the “Business” of yoga for nearly 2 decades. What I have learned in that time is that both the business world and the yoga world required commitment.
Commitment to be the best that I can be so that I can help others to be the best that they can be
What does commitment mean?
It means taking the time that I need to take care of myself so that I can take care of my business, my family, my friends and my home and community AND have some fun! It means showing up and moving into areas that are new and crazy. Just like a difficult pose that I might like to shy away from because it is not easy – business is the same. Sometimes you have to move out of your comfort zone and lean into something difficult. Sometimes you need to take a risk – sometimes you can count on things and sometimes you just have to trust – somewhere in there is where the transformation happens.
In yoga we move in a pose and breathe, we hold the pose and breathe and we let go of the pose and breathe. Leaning in, holding on, and letting go…hmmm… sounds like Business Decision Making 101 to me.
I got into yoga when I was training for my first biathlon. I was running and biking my butt off – literally I was trying to run my ass off because I thought I should “look” different…thinner, stronger, and more capable. Fast forward off the bike and onto the yoga mat. Once again as I looked around I felt that I needed to be thinner, stronger and more capable. Several studios, several teachers and many years later I now own my own studio where any BODY is welcome to practice.
I’ve heard all the excuses, “I love to do yoga BUT I’m …”
- Too tight
- Too week
- Too fat
- Too old
- Too muscular
- Too challenged
- TOO BUSY
Yoga does not judge us – we judge ourselves.
It does not limit us – we limit ourselves.
It does not compare our body type to others – we do. And we CAN make the time. All in the comfort of your own office…Your work clothes … on your own time AND with the help of a registered yoga teacher and fellow business owner.
